India reveals its lineup for the Adelaide Test

Wriddhiman Saha, R Ashwin, and Prithvi Shaw will represent India in the next Test in Adelaide. Umesh Yadav completes the trio of fast bowlers. The team selection was decided a day before the expected match. The decision to keep Shaw as the opening batsman was a key point. Despite Shubman Gill’s good performance in the practice matches, the management opted for continuity, backing the established opener. Shaw, although he showed flashes of his potential, had mixed results in the practice matches. However, the management prioritized stability at the top of the batting order.
In the case of the bowler, Ashwin, the first-choice test bowler, also kept his place, especially with the absence of Ravindra Jadeja due to injury. The decision to select Ashwin is based on his experience and track record in test cricket. The selection of the wicketkeeper was also a topic of discussion. India opted for Saha instead of Pant, prioritizing his wicketkeeping skills, especially in the test conditions. The team management seems to have decided that the pink ball will require a more established wicketkeeper. Yadav is emerging as India’s third fast bowler, replacing the injured Ishant Sharma. His experience and good performance in the practice match solidified his place in the team.India’s Line-up: Mayank Agarwal, Prithvi Shaw, Cheteshwar Pujara, Virat Kohli (c), Ajinkya Rahane, Hanuma Vihari, Wriddhiman Saha (wk), R Ashwin, Umesh Yadav, Mohammed Shami, Jasprit Bumrah.
