Hamzah Sheeraz Knocks Out Edgar Berlanga in the Fifth Round

In a night full of emotions at Louis Armstrong Stadium, Hamzah Sheeraz demonstrated his superiority by defeating Edgar Berlanga by technical knockout in the fifth round, in the main event of Ring Magazine 3.

The rivalry between Sheeraz and Berlanga intensified as the fight took place in the Puerto Rican boxer’s territory. However, Sheeraz dominated the fight from the start, making the difference with his performance.

Berlanga, who was looking to get back on the road to the title after his defeat to Canelo Álvarez, suffered a harsh setback. His victory in March over Jonathan Ortiz had given him the opportunity to face Sheeraz, marking the latter’s debut in the super middleweight category.

Sheeraz, after a draw with WBC middleweight champion Carlos Adames, decided to move up a weight class due to the difficulties he had in maintaining his weight.

Under the tutelage of Andy Lee, Sheeraz exhibited precise combinations, utilizing the jab and connecting effective punches that complicated Berlanga.

The fourth round was key, with Sheeraz connecting a combination that sent Berlanga to the canvas. Although Berlanga got up, another series of punches knocked him down again. Despite surviving the round, luck was not on his side.

In the fifth round, Sheeraz came out determined and, after a left hook and a right hand, sent Berlanga to the canvas for the last time, which led the referee to stop the fight at 17 seconds.
