Gervonta Davis Arrested in Miami Beach for Assault
The 30-year-old WBA lightweight world champion, Gervonta “Tank” Davis, was arrested on Friday morning in Miami Beach on charges of assault. The incident, according to the authorities, is related to a domestic dispute with his ex-girlfriend, with whom he had a four-year relationship.
Davis’s arrest comes approximately one month after he allegedly assaulted the mother of two of his three children on Father’s Day, outside her home in Doral. Reports indicate that Davis was “accused of hitting his ex-girlfriend on the back of the head and slapping her.”
Davis was arrested in Miami Beach and subsequently transferred by the Doral Police Department.
According to the Miami-Dade County inmate report, Davis is currently being held at the Turner Guilford Knight Correctional Center, awaiting bail to be set.
The boxer has had several run-ins with the law over the years, including domestic violence incidents and multiple traffic violations.
His last encounter with the law was in December 2022, when he was arrested for allegedly hitting a woman with a “closed-hand slap”. The charges were later dropped.
Davis was linked to a rematch with Lamont Roach Jr. in August, after both fighters had a controversial majority draw in March. However, Premier Boxing Champions has yet to formally announce the fight.
