In an unexpected turn of events, the newly crowned super middleweight boxing champion, Terence “Bud” Crawford, was cited for reckless driving early Sunday morning in Omaha, Nebraska, just hours after a parade in his honor. Official Statement
In the statement, it was announced that a review of the detention has been ordered and an internal investigation by Internal Affairs has been authorized. The authorities were aware of a video circulating on social media related to the Crawford traffic stop. According to the statement, the police stopped a vehicle that was allegedly driving recklessly shortly before 1:30 a.m. While the officer was speaking with the driver, he noticed the presence of a firearm on the driver’s side floor. The four occupants of the vehicle were forced out at gunpoint. The driver was identified as Crawford, who was cited for reckless driving. A passenger, a member of Crawford’s security team, was also found in possession of a legal firearm. Police confirmed that all occupants had legal permits to carry weapons. The statement indicates that a supervisor and a police lieutenant went to the scene at Crawford’s request. Crawford, who turned 38 on Sunday, could not be reached for comment. The news arrives after two weeks of celebrations in Nebraska, following Crawford’s victory.
