Boxing: Liam Paro enters the Welterweight ranking, Collazo retains titles.

17 Min Read

Last week didn’t offer much action in boxing, but there were movements in the division rankings after Liam Paro’s unanimous decision victory over David Papot in his welterweight debut. The fight was an eliminator for the IBF title. Paro’s debut was not without drama, as he had to overcome significant damage to his left eye and was shaken on several occasions. However, Paro started and finished strong to get the decision and the number 7 spot in the rankings. With Paro moving to welterweight, Lindolfo Delgado joins the super lightweight rankings at number 10. In the minimum weight action, Oscar Collazo retained his WBO and WBA titles after stopping Jayson Vayson. It was a competitive fight that Vayson seemed to have under control until his corner inexplicably stopped the fight in the seventh round. Boxing rankings by division highlight the best in the sport in each weight category. Rankings will change based on recent results and performances. Pugilists who have announced they are moving to a different weight category will be ranked in that new division, if applicable, only once they fight in that weight category. Pugilists currently holding titles in two divisions may be ranked in both.

Boxers who have not competed in the last 12 months -and who do not have a scheduled fight- will be removed from the rankings until they fight again. Any boxer who tests positive for a performance-enhancing substance will also be removed. That boxer may re-enter the rankings after their next fight.
