Hardcore Wrestling Legend, Sabu, Passes Away

The professional wrestling world mourns the loss of Terry Brunk, better known as Sabu, who passed away at the age of 60. The news was confirmed by AEW and WWE this Sunday, marking the end of an era for hardcore wrestling fans. From barbed wire battles to unforgettable high-risk moments, Sabu gave it his all to professional wrestling. The news comes a few weeks after Sabu participated in his last match, a retirement event during WrestleMania weekend in Las Vegas, facing Joey Janela at Joey Janela’s Spring Break 9. Sabu, known for his extreme and risky style, left an indelible mark on the history of wrestling. His legacy was cemented in the independent scene and in promotions like ECW, where he became an icon. His career was marked by memorable rivalries and brutal combats. The wrestler stood out for his ability to combine aerial moves with ultraviolent combat, using elements such as barbed wire, chairs, and tables. Sabu began his career under the tutelage of his uncle Ed “The Sheik” Farhat. During his time in ECW in the 1990s, he established himself as a key figure, winning multiple championships.

After touring the independent scene, Sabu made an appearance in AEW in 2023 as a special enforcer for a match between Chris Jericho and Adam Cole. The cause of Sabu’s death has not been revealed.
