Farewell to the Icon: Hulk Hogan Receives Honors in Florida
Largo, Florida – A crowd gathered Tuesday night for the funeral of Hulk Hogan, the wrestling legend who passed away last month at the age of 71.
The private ceremony was held in the same church where Terry Bollea, known worldwide as Hulk Hogan, was baptized in 2023.
According to the Pinellas County medical examiner, Hogan died on July 24 at his Clearwater residence, a victim of a heart attack.
The coroner’s report revealed that Hogan had battled leukemia and atrial fibrillation, a heart arrhythmia. The cause of his death was determined to be natural.
The security of the church and Largo police officers, including K-9 dogs, reinforced the security of the event. Access was denied to those not on the guest list, with signage indicating “Private Event”.
Former President Donald Trump shared a photo on his Truth Social platform, where he is seen competing with Hogan in an arm wrestling match. The message read: “Today is the funeral of the ‘Hulkster’, and I thought everyone would like to see this photo.”
Governor Ron DeSantis ordered last Friday that flags be flown at half-staff at all official buildings, and declared that day as “Hulk Hogan Day in Florida”.
Hogan was possibly the biggest star in WWE’s extensive history, famous for both his charismatic personality and his achievements in the ring. He was the main attraction at the first WrestleMania in 1985 and a constant figure for years, facing legends like André the Giant, Randy Savage, The Rock and even WWE co-founder Vince McMahon.
Outside the world of wrestling, Hogan was also a celebrity, participating in numerous films and television shows, including “Hogan Knows Best”, a reality show about his life on VH1.
Hogan’s body will be cremated.
Brooke Bollea Oleksy, better known as Brooke Hogan, daughter of the wrestler, paid tribute to her father through a social media post.
