The National Institute of Physical Education (INEFI) celebrated this weekend the first competition of the “Educational Strokes” program in the pool of the Dominican Olympic Hostel, marking a milestone in the promotion of sports and education in the country.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
More than 200 students, aged between 5 and 16, from 15 educational centers in the National District, participated in the event, demonstrating their skills and enthusiasm for swimming.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
We must teach children to swim, from the youngest to the oldest, since we are an island surrounded by water. Alberto Rodr\u00edguez Mella, executive director of INEFI, emphasized the importance of this initiative as a fundamental pillar in the comprehensive education of young people. He highlighted the need to teach all children to swim, given the country’s geographical location.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Rodr\u00edguez Mella also highlighted INEFI’s primary objective of keeping children and adolescents away from negative environments. He emphasized how the combination of education and sports is an effective tool to achieve this purpose.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The program, led by Mar\u00eda Garc\u00eda, director of “Athletes with INEFI”, was created in December 2024 with the purpose of promoting sports practice, evaluating the progress of student-athletes, and promoting essential values such as discipline, teamwork, and perseverance.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
We hold this event to observe the skills that the children have developed throughout the process. The event was attended by C\u00e9sar Ruiz, administrative director of INEFI, who has closely supervised the program’s development since its inception. In addition, family members of the participants and various personalities from the sports and educational fields attended.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
