The tournament, held at the North Course at TPC Toronto at Osprey Valley, serves as a prelude to next week’s U.S. Open at Oakmont.

Manassero, after a stumble on the 17th hole, recovered with a birdie on the par 5 of the 18th, leaving his third shot only two feet from the hole. With this performance, the Italian reached a total of 14 under par, 196 strokes.

I missed a short one on the 17th, and I missed a few more today. I try to think of them as one more shot, like a driver, like a 6-iron, whatever. It’s just one shot. I don’t want it to get into my head, and I don’t want that to ruin anything or my attitude towards the next shots.
Matteo Manassero

Fox, for his part, also achieved a birdie on the 18th hole. The New Zealander player, who won the Myrtle Beach Classic last month, was satisfied with his game.

To be honest, everything went pretty well. I drove really well. I think if you do that here, you give yourself a lot of opportunities. I had a lot of good wedge shots, holed a few putts early. I just played some really solid, stress-free golf for the most part.
Ryan Fox

Lee Hodges, Kevin Yu, and Matt McCarty were one stroke behind the leaders. Hodges and Yu delivered cards of 63, while McCarty signed a 64.

Canadian Mackenzie Hughes, with a round of 64, was at 12 under par, along with Jake Knapp (66) and Andrew Putnam (68).

I’ve been putting the ball in play pretty well, driving pretty well. I feel like that’s taken some pressure off the putter and the short game. That’s a big key around here. If you start driving it well, you can attack and be aggressive.
Mackenzie Hughes

The 2023 champion, Nick Taylor, made an eagle on the 18th hole for a 69, reaching 10 under par.
