Yelena Hazim Figuereo Makes History at the Head of the Dominican Football Federation<\/h2>\n\nSanto Domingo \u2013 The Dominican Football Federation (FDF) announced the appointment of Yelena Hazim Figuereo as its new general secretary. This appointment marks a significant milestone, as Hazim becomes the first woman to hold this position in the history of the institution, founded in 1953 and affiliated with FIFA.\n\nHazim Figuereo arrives at the General Secretariat after a distinguished career within the FDF. Previously, he led the Development and Compliance Directorate for almost three years, from August 2020 to November 2022. During this time, he played a crucial role and established a solid reputation with FIFA.\n\nHis impact on the sports field is notable, especially for his participation, along with Carlos Ram\u00edrez, in the creation and launch of the National Tournament of Associations and Clubs. This tournament has become a fundamental element for the development of formative football in the Dominican Republic.\n\nOriginally from San Pedro de Macor\u00eds, Yelena Hazim has a solid academic background. She holds a degree in Political Science and a doctorate in International Private Law and Dispute Resolution Methods. In addition, she has a master’s degree in International Sports Law and previously worked with the Puerto Rican Football Federation.\n\n\n
