Dominican Republic had an outstanding day at the XX Bolivarian Games Ayacucho-Lima 2025, thanks to the impressive performances in wushu, a historic achievement in golf and outstanding participations in table tennis, athletics and karate. The Caribbean country added 13 medals, consolidating in the seventh position of the general medal table with a total of 64 medals (12 gold, 17 silver and 35 bronze).\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Wushu: Mastery and Gold Medals<\/h2>\n\n\nThe wushu selection shone by conquering eight medals: three gold, two silver and three bronze, surpassing its performance from the previous year.\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li><b>Jefry B\u00e1ez<\/b> (+56 y -60 kg) took the gold after defeating Peruvian Henry Fern\u00e1ndez 2-1.<\/li><li><b>El\u00edan And\u00fajar Sena<\/b> (+75 y -80 kg) secured the gold with a 2-0 victory over H\u00e9ctor Reyes N\u00fa\u00f1ez (VEN).<\/li><li><b>Kelvin Luis Moquete<\/b> (-56 kg) also conquered the gold, defeating Peruvian Junior Huaman Orue 2-0.<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\nThe silver medals were obtained by Carlos Custodio (+65 and -70 kg) and Yordaly Dur\u00e1n (+70 and -75 kg). The bronzes went to Sa\u00fal Quiterio, Jerika Lima and Jenifer Garc\u00eda J\u00e1quez.\n\n<h2>Table Tennis: Silver for Eva Brito<\/h2>\n\nThe experienced Eva Brito won the silver medal in the women&#8217;s singles table tennis competition. Brito fell in the final to Chilean Zhiying Zeng with a score of 4-0.\n\nOn her way to the final, Brito defeated Judith Morales (CHI), Cristina G\u00f3mez (VEN), and Sof\u00eda Vega (CHI). Yasiris Ortiz was eliminated in the quarterfinals and Esmerlin Castro fell in the round of 16 against Morales (CHI).\n\n<h2>Karate: Three Bronzes for DR<\/h2>\n\n<p>Dominican karatekas secured three bronze medals:<\/p>\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li><b>Ramphy B\u00e1ez Bourbon<\/b> (-67 kg), after winning in the repechage against Andree Quezada (BOL).<\/li><li><b>\u00c1mbar Garc\u00eda Ma\u00f1\u00f3n<\/b> (-55 kg), who defeated Hazel Ramos (ESA) 6-2.<\/li><li><b>Pen\u00e9lope Polanco D\u00edaz<\/b>, who defeated Ariane Monje (BOL) 14-4.<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Golf: Willy Pumarol Makes History<\/h2>\n\n\nWilly Pumarol marked a milestone for Dominican sports by obtaining the first golf medal in Olympic cycle events, winning the bronze with a total score of 274 (-10) after four rounds. In the final round, he signed 69 strokes (-2).\n\nJuan Jos\u00e9 Guerra, Pumarol&#8217;s compatriot, finished in 12th place (-3). The gold went to Manuel Torres (VEN) with -16, and the silver to Gabriel Morgan (CHI) with -15.\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Athletics: Bronze in Mixed Relay<\/h2>\n\n\n<p>The 4&#215;400 mixed team, composed of Bianka Acosta, Ferdy Agramonte, Estrella De Aza and Juander Santos, won the bronze medal with a time of 3:20.72. With this result, Dominican athletics concluded its participation with a total of nine medals: 3 gold, 3 silver and 3 bronze.<\/p>\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Tennis: Peter Beltr\u00e1n in Search of Bronze<\/h2>\n\n\nPeter Beltr\u00e1n, after falling in the semifinals against the Peruvian Akron Huertas, will play for the bronze against the Chilean Benjam\u00edn Torrealba Fede.\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Beach Volleyball<\/h2>\n\n\nThe male duo Hayerling De Jes\u00fas \/ Melvin De Jes\u00fas fell 0-2 against Colombia in the quarterfinals. In the women&#8217;s category, Julibeth Payano \/ Yari Cleto finished seventh after defeating Chile 2-1 in the consolation rounds.\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Road Cycling<\/h2>\n\n\nJes\u00fas Marte C\u00e9spedes was the best-placed Dominican, finishing in 11th place with a time of 3h 31:49. Steven Polanco arrived in 17th place and Rudy Germoso G\u00f3mez in 22nd, both with the same time.\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Equestrian<\/h2>\n\n\n<p>In general final jump:<\/p>\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>Aida S\u00e1nchez Ravelo finished fourth (9.97).<\/li><li>Juan Jos\u00e9 Bancalari Elm\u00fadesi, fifth (13.24).<\/li><li>Manuel Fern\u00e1ndez Hach\u00e9, ninth (20.32).<\/li><li>Manuel Andr\u00e9s Bancalari Elm\u00fadesi, 21st place (56.61).<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n<p>In individual jump:<\/p>\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>S\u00e1nchez Ravelo was fourth (4 points).<\/li><li>Bancalari Elm\u00fadesi, eighth (8 points).<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n<h2>Tennis \u2013 Women&#8217;s Doubles<\/h2>\n\nThe duo of Ana Zamburek Martes \/ Kelly Williford Leonardo finished in fourth place, after falling 6-0, 6-3 to the Chileans Jimar Gonz\u00e1lez and Antonia Vergara in the bronze medal match.","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>LIMA, Peru.
