The event, which promises excitement and high-level competition, will open its doors this Monday at 4:00 in the afternoon in the Jos\u00e9 Joaqu\u00edn Puello pavilion of the Parque del Este.\n\nThis was announced by Jos\u00e9 Antol\u00edn Polanco Rosa, president of the Organizing Committee of the event. Polanco Rosa emphasized the importance of the championship, highlighting its sporting impact and its crucial role in the qualifying process for future international competitions.\n\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote is-layout-flow wp-block-quote-is-layout-flow\"><p>The Dominican Republic is prepared to host a tournament of this magnitude, which will not only test the best weightlifters in the region, but will also serve as a decisive step towards international commitments.<\/p><cite>Jos\u00e9 Antol\u00edn Polanco Rosa<\/cite><\/blockquote>\n\nThis championship is the only weightlifting qualifying event for the Central American and Caribbean Games Santo Domingo 2026, which will be held from July 24 to August 8 of next year. In addition, it will serve as the first test event for this multi-sport event.\n\nA massive participation is expected, with 247 representatives from 23 countries, including 161 athletes and dozens of delegates, coaches, and international technical officials. &#8220;These figures consolidate this championship as a key event in regional sports,&#8221; said Polanco Rosa.\n\nPolanco Rosa also assured that the celebration of the contest &#8220;glorifies&#8221; the country and the Dominican Weightlifting Federation, presided over by Willian Ozuna, for its contribution to the strengthening of sport in the region.\n\nThe tournament is dedicated to Luis\u00edn Mej\u00eda, president of Centro Caribe Sport, member of the International Olympic Committee and former president of the Dominican Olympic Committee.\n\nAmong the confirmed delegations are athletes and officials from Colombia, Cuba, Mexico, El Salvador, Aruba, Trinidad &amp; Tobago, Barbados, Belize, Costa Rica, Guatemala, Guadeloupe, Guyana, Haiti, Honduras, Nicaragua, Panama, Puerto Rico, Saint Kitts, Saint Lucia, Venezuela, Virgin Islands and the Dominican Republic.\n\nThe Organizing Committee is made up of Jos\u00e9 Antol\u00edn Polanco Rosa, along with Vice Presidents Tony Mesa and Eddy Gonz\u00e1lez; Elisandro P\u00e9rez, secretary; Reymundo Gantier, treasurer; Willian Ozuna, general director; Maritza Ortiz, technical director, and Yuderqui Contreras, member.","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic \u2013 The Caribbean nation is preparing to be the epicenter of regional sport with the Central American and Caribbean Weightlifting Championship.
