Judo and athletics led the day for the Dominican delegation at the XX Bolivarian Games, adding two gold medals, one silver and five bronze. These medals also came from rowing, taekwondo and table tennis, consolidating the Dominican Republic in eighth place in the general medal table, with a total of 30 medals: four gold, eight silver and 18 bronze.\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Athletics: Yeral N\u00fa\u00f1ez shines in the 400-meter hurdles<\/h2>\n\n\nSprinter Yeral N\u00fa\u00f1ez conquered the gold medal in the 400-meter hurdles, with a time of 50.81 seconds at the Videna Athletic Stadium. Sebasti\u00e1n Mosquera Bastidas, from Colombia, obtained the silver (51.53), while the Ecuadorian Ian Pata Reasco took the bronze (51.62).\n\nJuander Santos Aquino, also Dominican, took fifth place with a time of 52.84 seconds.\n\nIn addition, Liranyi Alonso and Patricia Sin\u00e9 advanced to the final of the 100-meter dash after registering 11.59 and 11.63 seconds, respectively. The final is scheduled for this Tuesday at 2:15 p.m. (3:15 p.m. RD time).\n\nIn the long jump, Evelina Minaya Belizaire finished in fourth position with a mark of 6.32 meters.\n\n<h2>Judo: One Gold and Two Bronzes for the Dominican Team<\/h2>\n\nJudo began its participation with three medals, highlighting the gold of Maikor Louis Pierre in the -73 kg category, after winning his three fights, including the final by ippon against the Venezuelan Andr\u00e9s Pariche.\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>Heriberto de Aza (-66 kg) won the bronze medal, defeating Chilean Lucas Fern\u00e1ndez by ippon.<\/li><li>Samanta Josefa (-52 kg) won the bronze medal match against Paloma Narv\u00e1ez, from Paraguay.<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\nAthlete Creymarlin Valdez (-63 kg) did not win a medal, after falling in the semifinals and in the bronze medal match.\n\n<h2>Rowing: Silver in men&#8217;s lightweight double sculls<\/h2>\n\nThe duet composed of Ignacio V\u00e1squez and Wilson Jos\u00e9 Restituyo won the silver medal in the men&#8217;s lightweight double sculls (LM2X), recording a time of 1:28.44 in the 200 meters. Venezuela won the gold and Chile the bronze.\n\nThe rowing will continue this Tuesday with V\u00e1squez (men&#8217;s single) and Wendy Sim\u00f3 Pe\u00f1a (women&#8217;s single).\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Table tennis: Bronze in both team events<\/h2>\n\n\n<p>Dominican table tennis won two team bronzes:<\/p>\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>Women&#8217;s team: Eva Brito, Yasiris Ortiz, Arianna Estrella, and Esmerlin Castro finished with a 2-2 record.<\/li><li>Men&#8217;s team: achieved a 1-2 record, with a victory over Bolivia.<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\nBoth sets went up to the podium after their performances at the Polideportivo 02 in Lima.\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Taekwondo: Bronze for the Men&#8217;s Team<\/h2>\n\n\nThe men&#8217;s taekwondo team \u2014made up of Cristofer Reyes, Pedro Mart\u00ednez, and Sa\u00fal Taveras\u2014 won the bronze medal after defeating Paraguay 2-0 in the quarterfinals and losing 0-2 to Peru in the semifinals.\n\nThe women&#8217;s team was left out of the medals after losing to Peru in the quarterfinals. Taekwondo closed its participation with a silver and five bronzes.\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Tennis: Complicated start<\/h2>\n\n\n<p>Dominican tennis had a difficult start, with three defeats on its first day:<\/p>\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>Ana Zamburek fell 7-5, 6-3 to Maria Torres (Colombia).<\/li><li>Kelly Wilford lost 6-2, 6-1 to Sofia Cabezas (Venezuela).<\/li><li>In mixed doubles, Zamburek\/Mu\u00f1oz were defeated by P\u00e9rez\/G\u00f3mez (Colombia) 6-3, 6-1, 10-6.<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\nCompetitions are held at the Lawns Tennis Club in Lima.","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>LIMA, Peru.
