The match was stopped after fireworks and flares were lit behind one of the goals.\n\nReferee Bas Nijhuis led the players off the field five minutes after the start of the game. The game was suspended on Sunday evening after fireworks were repeatedly thrown, with the score at 0-0.<\/p><cite>Ajax<\/cite><\/blockquote>\n\n\nAfter the incident, the club issued a statement condemning what happened.\n\n\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote is-layout-flow wp-block-quote-is-layout-flow\"><p>Ajax considers what happened in the stadium tonight scandalous. We offer our apologies to anyone who has been affected by this in any way. The safety of the spectators and players has been put at risk. That is unacceptable.
