However, since then, he has only managed one podium.\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/a.espncdn.com\/combiner\/i?img=%2Fphoto%2F2025%2F1128%2Fr1582003_1296x729_16%2D9.jpg\" alt=\"Oscar Piastri took sprint pole ahead of George Russell.\" title=\"\"><figcaption>Oscar Piastri tom\u00f3 la pole sprint por delante de George Russell.<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n\n\nThe Red Bull driver, Verstappen, was looking to continue his attempt for the title, getting closer in the standings after McLaren&#8217;s double disqualification in Las Vegas.\n\nHowever, he seemed unhappy with his car&#8217;s setup and went off track in SQ3 at a crucial moment.\n\n\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote is-layout-flow wp-block-quote-is-layout-flow\"><p>&#8220;This damn car, man; it&#8217;s bouncing like an idiot,&#8221; Verstappen complained.<\/p><cite>Max Verstappen<\/cite><\/blockquote>\n\n\n<p>Upon finishing the classification, Red Bull&#8217;s boss, Laurent Mekies, told the reigning champion via radio: &#8220;We have work to do, but the weekend is long, friend&#8221;.<\/p>\n\nVerstappen finished the session in sixth place, although it is unlikely that he will face resistance from his teammate, Yuki Tsunoda, who surprisingly qualified ahead of him in fifth place. Fernando Alonso, from Aston Martin, was the highlight of the session.\n\nKimi Antonelli, the Mercedes rookie, will start in seventh place.\n\nCarlos Sainz and Alex Albon, from Williams, qualified on either side of Charles Leclerc&#8217;s Ferrari, who finished in ninth place.\n\nThe first qualifying session, SQ1, revealed a moment of tension between the teams competing for the title, with the stewards briefly analyzing whether Verstappen had hindered Norris&#8217; lap at Turn 16.\n\n\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote is-layout-flow wp-block-quote-is-layout-flow\"><p>&#8220;Verstappen simply didn&#8217;t get out of my way,&#8221; Norris reported. &#8220;It cost me the lap.&#8221;<\/p><cite>Lando Norris<\/cite><\/blockquote>\n\n\nMcLaren was not impressed, and race engineer Will Joseph told Norris: &#8220;On every lap, he pulls over immediately after completing his lap. This time he decided to stay out and screw you over.
