Lethbridge, Alberta \u2013 In an exciting shootout that kept fans on the edge of their seats, the U.S. National Team Development Program (USNTDP) emerged victorious in the CHL-USA Prospects Challenge over the Canadian Hockey League (CHL) on Wednesday night.<\/p>\n
The decisive goal came at 5:53 of extra time, courtesy of Victor Plante, sealing the victory for the American team.<\/p>\n
The USNTDP had already proven its worth by winning the first game of the series, played in Calgary on Tuesday, with a score of 4-2. However, the CHL prospects did not fall behind and staged a comeback in the second game, overcoming a two-goal deficit to secure a 4-3 victory, which forced an additional 20-minute sudden-death period with three-on-three players.<\/p>\n
Victor Plante, a 17-year-old from Hermantown, Minnesota, who is preparing to play at the collegiate level for Minnesota-Duluth, demonstrated his skill on the ice by scoring the winning goal. Plante is the son of former NHL player Derek Plante.<\/p>\n
In the second game, Xavier Villeneuve, Alessandro Di Iorio, Caleb Malhotra, and JP Hurlbert scored for the CHL, while Zachary Jonvanovski made 24 saves.<\/p>\n
