And that&#8217;s not an excuse. I must be better and hold myself to a higher standard. In that moment, I didn&#8217;t. I am sincerely sorry and very sorry for having done that.&#8221;<\/p>\n\n<cite>Geno Smith<\/cite>\n<\/blockquote>\n\n\nSmith added: &#8220;I just want it to be known that those things won&#8217;t happen again on my part.&#8221;\n\nThe quarterback suffered 10 sacks in the Raiders&#8217; fifth consecutive loss, leaving them with a 2-9 record for the season. Previously, fans booed the veteran quarterback during pre-game introductions.\n\nThe team issued a statement regarding this: &#8220;We are disappointed by his actions and have discussed the incident with Geno. We hold the Raider Nation in high regard and take this matter seriously.&#8221;\n\nIn August, Smith and Raiders defensive end Maxx Crosby were caught on video making a similar gesture towards Seattle Seahawks fans before their preseason game. A fan appeared to provoke the players by displaying a sign that read: &#8220;Biggest bust: Geno or JaMarcus Russell?&#8221;\n\nDetroit Lions safety Brian Branch was fined $10,128 for making a gesture similar to Green Bay Packers fans in November 2024.\n\nSmith has struggled in his first season in Las Vegas. He has thrown for 2,367 yards, 13 touchdowns and 13 interceptions, tied for the league lead.
