Makhachev headlined the event and won the welterweight championship over Jack Della Maddalena.\n\n\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote is-layout-flow wp-block-quote-is-layout-flow\"><p>These assaults at Madison Square Garden are completely unacceptable. The New York Police Department is already conducting a full investigation, and everyone responsible will be held accountable.<\/p><cite>Eric Adams<\/cite><\/blockquote>\n\n\nIn the press conference after the UFC 322 fight, UFC CEO Dana White announced that Danis was permanently banned from future UFC events. Danis has a history of public altercations and had posted derogatory comments and photos, some of which were false, about Makhachev online in the days leading up to UFC 322.\n\nMultiple videos showed that Makhachev&#8217;s teammates, Magomed &#8216;Chanco&#8217; Zaynukov and Abubakar Nurmagomedov, were involved in the incident, including throwing punches at the back of Danis&#8217;s head. Danis was immediately escorted out of the arena by security. Makhachev&#8217;s teammates were also removed and watched their performance for the world title from another location.
