Dominican Republic Ready for Racquetball World Cup<\/h2>\n\n\nSanto Domingo will be the venue for the thirty-sixth Racquetball World Championship, a major event that will take place from December 5 to 13 at the facilities of the Juan Pablo Duarte Olympic Center.\n\nThe championship will feature the participation of young talents in the 10-12-14 and 16-year-old categories, who will compete for the Spirit Cup. Likewise, athletes aged 16-18 and 21 will compete for the World Cup.\n\nThe participation of more than 350 athletes of various nationalities is expected. The Dominican Republic, which already hosted a similar event in 2015 in the same venue, will be represented by 14 players.\n\n\n

“From day one, the championship was given the yes,” said the Vice Minister of Sports, Franklin de la Mota.<\/p>\n\nFranklin de la Mota<\/cite><\/blockquote>\n\n\nThe championship’s inauguration is scheduled for the 5th, with matches that will extend from morning to night, as reported by the president of the Dominican Racquetball Federation, Rafael Fern\u00e1ndez.\n\nThe competitions will be held on the eight racquetball courts available.\n\nAmong the countries confirmed to participate are South Korea and Chinese Taipei, who will visit the country for the first time, as well as Canada, the United States, Mexico, Guatemala, Ecuador, Argentina, Colombia, Bolivia and Costa Rica, among others.\n\n\n

“We want the country to continue shining in events like this, with the presence of those 18 countries it is a way of doing sports tourism,” added De la Mota.<\/p>\n\nFranklin de la Mota<\/cite><\/blockquote>\n\n\nRam\u00f3n Acosta Graveley, secretary general of the Federation, recalled that the country had not organized an event of this level since 2015. “We have a lot of faith that our athletes can perform in this championship,” said Acosta.\n\nRicardo Mootuig, technical director of the Federation, highlighted the importance of hosting this event. “It helps us a lot,” he said. “Years ago we had this event and those athletes, today, are the Central American and Pan American medalists of the Dominican Republic,” he pointed out.\n\n“We hope that those of now will also be the next protagonists of international events,” Fern\u00e1ndez highlighted.","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
