After the 49ers’ victory with a score of 20-9, Jennings delivered a direct blow to Moehrig’s face. The situation escalated rapidly, with players from both teams intervening to separate those involved.<\/p>\n
Television cameras captured a previous moment in the game where Moehrig hit Jennings in the groin area. The latter, instead of reacting immediately, asked the referees to penalize Moehrig.<\/p>\n
“I was just responding to childish behavior,” Jennings stated about his post-game actions.<\/p>\n
49ers coach Kyle Shanahan called Moehrig’s action a “cheap shot.” Shanahan also expressed pride in Jennings’ composure.<\/p>\n
Jennings explained that he did not expect Moehrig’s hit during the game, attributing it to his physical and often intense playing style.<\/p>\n
Moehrig and the Panthers, apparently, retaliated for Jennings’ aggressive blocking style. The 49ers player was ejected in the last game of last season against the Arizona Cardinals after receiving several penalties for unnecessary roughness.<\/p>\n
