Ja’Marr Chase Apologizes for Spitting at Jalen Ramsey<\/h2>\n\n\nCincinnati Bengals wide receiver Ja’Marr Chase issued a public apology on Monday for spitting at Pittsburgh Steelers defensive back Jalen Ramsey during a recent game.\n\nIn a statement posted on Instagram, Chase took “full responsibility” for his actions in the game against the Steelers on November 16. The incident resulted in a one-game suspension without pay for Chase, after the NFL determined that he spat at Ramsey during an altercation.\n\n\n

“What I did was wrong,” Chase stated. “The circumstances don’t matter. My passion for the game is no excuse. There is no place in our sport, nor in life, for that level of disrespect.”<\/p>\n\nJa’Marr Chase<\/cite>\n<\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n

Ja’Marr Chase’s post<\/a><\/p>\n\n\nChase didn’t directly mention Ramsey by name, but he did refer to the Steelers as an organization.\n\n\n

“I want to apologize personally to everyone within the Pittsburgh Steelers organization,” Chase said. “I let my emotions get the better of me in the moment. I can only hope and trust that they know that none of this represents who I am, neither as a competitor, teammate, nor person.”<\/p>\n\nJa’Marr Chase<\/cite>\n<\/blockquote>\n\n\nThe league confirmed Chase’s suspension after reviewing his appeal filed last week.\n\nBoth Chase and Ramsey were previously penalized in the game for unsportsmanlike conduct. Both players were warned by the head referee, Bill Vinovich, after the altercation that preceded the incident.\n\nRamsey was fined $14,191 for his involvement in the incident. He was ejected after throwing a retaliatory punch.\n\nChase lost more than $500,000 in salary by not playing in his team’s 26-20 loss to the New England Patriots.\n\nChase, a four-time Pro Bowl selection, had not spoken to the media since a video captured by WXIX-TV of Cincinnati showed the incident. After the game, Chase denied acting that way.\n\nIt seems Chase addressed those statements in its statement.\n\n\n

“I don’t take my position as a role model lightly,” Chase said. “As someone who strives to lead with character and authenticity, I should have taken immediate responsibility for what happened.”<\/p>\n\nJa’Marr Chase<\/cite>\n<\/blockquote>\n\n\nAccording to ESPN Research, since Chase entered the league in 2021, he has received four unsportsmanlike conduct or taunting penalties, which ranks him third in the league during that period.\n\nOn Monday, Chase returned to the Bengals’ facilities after serving his suspension.
