Manny Pacquiao Seeks a New Chapter in His Legendary Career<\/h2>\n\n\nLas Vegas, Nevada \u2013 Manny Pacquiao, at 46 years old, is preparing for a boxing return that could mark a milestone in the history of the sport. After his last appearance in the ring in 2021, where he was defeated by Yordenis Ugas, Pacquiao is getting ready to challenge Mario Barrios for the WBC welterweight title on July 19 at the MGM Grand Garden Arena.\n\nThe task will not be easy, but “Pacman” is motivated by the possibility of making history once again. A victory would allow him to break two significant records: being the first boxer to enter the International Boxing Hall of Fame to win a world title and becoming the oldest welterweight champion, surpassing his own record set by defeating Keith Thurman at 40 years old.\n\n\n

After a failed presidential campaign in 2022 and his time as a senator in the Philippines, Pacquiao has considered a return to boxing for the past four years. Although he participated in two exhibition matches in 2022 and 2024, the spark to return to the ring had not fully ignited.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

However, after finishing 18th in the 2025 Philippine senatorial elections, he decided to redirect his focus to the sport that made him a superstar. The opportunity to fight for a world title arose thanks to the WBC rules, which allow a retired former champion to request a title fight, paving the way for the return of the only world champion in eight divisions.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

I always stay in shape, but once I started training seriously again, I realized I still had that passion and skill in me. I went to my doctor and everything was perfect. My medical exams came out great. I feel good and I’m ready to do it again.<\/p>Manny Pacquiao<\/cite><\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n

In his fight against Ugas, Pacquiao did not show the same explosiveness or footwork that characterized him. However, the boxer attributed this to an error in his training, not to age.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

I trained poorly for that fight. My legs started cramping up and I couldn’t move. He was a very slow opponent and I couldn’t believe I couldn’t move my feet or my legs. But for this camp, I’m back with my usual trainer, Freddie Roach. The old Manny will be back.<\/p>Manny Pacquiao<\/cite><\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n

If Pacquiao achieves victory, he will add another achievement to his already legendary career. However, it remains to be seen if this will be the end or if he still has more fights ahead.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
