The decision was made five hours after the race, generating a significant impact on the standings.\n\nVerstappen now equals Piastri in points, while Norris&#8217;s lead is reduced to 24 points. Norris&#8217;s disqualification benefited the Mercedes drivers, George Russell and Andrea Kimi Antonelli, who now occupy podium positions.\n\nPiastri, who finished in fourth place, failed to overtake his teammate Norris, a streak that dates back to his victory at the Dutch Grand Prix. Verstappen, after a complicated start after the summer break, has resurfaced strongly, winning four of the seven races since then.\n\nIn the first lap, Verstappen took control of the race, taking advantage of a mistake by Norris in turn 1. Although Russell tried to get close to Verstappen, his lead was never in danger. McLaren hoped to catch Verstappen in the final laps, but Norris&#8217;s problems delayed him.\n\nPiastri, who started fifth, had a complicated start, but managed to avoid an incident at turn 1. A timely pit stop and a penalty for a jump start for Antonelli allowed Piastri to move up to fourth place before being disqualified.\n\nCharles Leclerc of Ferrari finished sixth (now fourth) behind Antonelli. Lewis Hamilton, also of Ferrari, advanced from the back of the grid to tenth place (now eighth).
