A statement from Aston Martin on Saturday evening, several hours after he qualified in 14th place, confirmed Stroll’s withdrawal from Sunday’s race.<\/p>\n\nAccording to Aston Martin, the pain has persisted for a month and a half and is related to the wrist fracture he suffered in a bicycle accident during pre-season training in 2023.\n\n

For the past six weeks, Lance has experienced pain in his hand and wrist, which his medical consultant believes is related to the procedure he underwent in 2023.<\/p>Aston Martin<\/cite><\/blockquote>\n\n

Stroll’s medical team has confirmed that he will not race on Sunday and will undergo a procedure to address these issues before focusing on his recovery.<\/p>\n\n

The team also did not have another driver in an FP1 practice session, which means there is no option to substitute with a reserve driver.<\/p>\n\n

There were indications that something was not right immediately after qualifying. Stroll was summoned to the stewards after qualifying for failing to go to the driver’s weighbridge when instructed, a hearing that was later delayed due to “unforeseen circumstances.” The withdrawal was confirmed a few hours later.<\/p>\n\n

The next F1 race is the Canadian Grand Prix in Montreal on June 15, but his participation is now in doubt.<\/p>\n\nAston Martin’s reserve drivers are Felipe Drugovich and American F2 driver Jack Crawford.\n\n
