Los Angeles Kings defenseman Drew Doughty was placed on the injured list on Thursday due to a left foot injury, the result of a shot.<\/p>\n
Doughty, a key piece in the Kings’ defense since 2008, will be out for several weeks, according to coach Jim Hiller.<\/p>\n
The 35-year-old player had to leave the Kings’ game against Ottawa last Saturday after being hit by Tyler Kleven’s shot. He already missed the game against Washington on Monday and will be out for a while.<\/p>\n
Fortunately, the injury is not related to the left ankle fracture that kept him out of the first 47 games of last season, which is good news for his quick recovery.<\/p>\n
Doughty, a two-time Stanley Cup champion, has two goals and six assists in 19 games with the Kings this season, his seventeenth in the NHL. The two-time Olympic gold medalist also hopes to be considered for a spot with Canada at the Olympic Games in February.<\/p>\n
