The Winnipeg Jets will be without their star goalie, Connor Hellebuyck, for a period of 4 to 6 weeks. The goaltender will undergo a minor arthroscopic procedure on his knee, according to sources.<\/p>\n
Hellebuyck, 32, has been awarded the Vezina Trophy as the NHL’s best goaltender for two consecutive seasons. He was looking to become the first goaltender since Hall of Famer Dominik Hasek (1996-99) to win the award three times in a row.<\/p>\n
In total, Hellebuyck has won the Vezina Trophy three times and has been a finalist for the award on five occasions.<\/p>\n
In the 14 games played with the Jets, he has a record of 8-6-0, with a save percentage of .913 and a goals-against average of 2.51. The Jets are in third place in the Central Division, with a points percentage of .632. Hellebuyck’s last participation was on Saturday in Calgary, where he stopped 31 of 34 shots, plus three more in the shootout victory against the Flames.<\/p>\n
Winnipeg has called up goaltender Thomas Milic from the AHL’s Manitoba Moose, who will share the responsibility with backup goaltender Eric Comrie during Hellebuyck’s absence.<\/p>\n
