The objective is to answer a key question: Which footballers are the most important in the most prominent clubs in the league?

To determine the importance of each player, we combine their skill with tactical factors. We evaluate their impact on the team and rank the top 15. We prioritize the most consistent and present players, but we also recognized those with great tactical relevance.

Throughout the season, football teams face challenges such as injuries, absences, and changes in form. Therefore, we have reviewed the rankings of the six most important clubs in England to see how things have evolved since March. Who has stood out and who has declined in performance?

For the methodology, minutes played were considered. The minimum cut-off was 300 minutes, and we included the Champions League to recognize the need to rotate players in a tight schedule. In the case of Manchester United, the rule of 300 minutes or more in the Premier League was applied, as they do not compete in Europe.

The ranking is based on a combination of statistical data and the opinion of experts from each club. Data from Opta and Gradient Sports ratings were used to support our evaluations.

Below, the rankings of each team:

ARSENAL

Arsenal made significant investments in the transfer market, spending approximately £250 million on eight new players to compete for the title with Liverpool and Manchester City. Although the core of Mikel Arteta’s team remained, the arrival of new talents has changed the landscape.

ABSENT: Martin Ødegaard, who did not reach the minimum threshold of minutes due to injuries. Kai Havertz, Ben White, and Ethan Nwaneri were also left out due to lack of minutes, while Thomas Partey left the club. Myles Lewis-Skelly, Piero Hincapié, and Christian Nørgaard have not had enough appearances. This has opened space for Arsenal’s new signings, significantly altering the ranking.

15. Cristhian Mosquera (New!)

14. Noni Madueke (New!)

13. Gabriel Martinelli (-7)

12. Eberechi Eze (New!)

11. Mikel Merino (+2)

10. Leandro Trossard (+1)

9. Viktor Gyökeres (New!)

8. David Raya (-2)

7. Riccardo Calafiori (+7)

6. Jurriën Timber (+4)

5. Martín Zubimendi (New!)

4. William Saliba (-1)

3. Declan Rice (+2)

2. Gabriel Magalhães (+2)

1. Bukayo Saka (+1)

CHELSEA

Chelsea kept Enzo Maresca as coach for a second consecutive season, but stability hasn’t been total. The team is integrating many young players and has made significant changes to the squad. In addition, participation in the FIFA Club World Cup generated an unprecedented schedule.

ABSENT: Cole Palmer is not on the list due to injuries. Jadon Sancho, Noni Madueke, and Nicolas Jackson have left the club; Levi Colwill may not play this season due to an ACL injury; and Roméo Lavia’s injury problems prevent him from having an impact on the team. Liam Delap, Marc Guiu, Tyrique George, Facundo Buonanotte, and Benoît Badiashile haven’t played enough to feature; Josh Acheampong and Jorrel Hato are not influential enough.

15. Jamie Gittens (New!)

14. Andrey Santos (New!)

13. Tosin Adarabioyo (+1)

12. Robert Sánchez (-1)

11. Alejandro Garnacho (New!)

10. Malo Gusto (+1)

9. Trevoh Chalobah (New!)

8. Estêvão (New!)

7. Wesley Fofana (+2)

6. Pedro Neto (+3)

5. João Pedro (New!)

4. Marc Cucurella (+2)

3. Enzo Fernández (+2)

2. Reece James (+9)

1. Moisés Caicedo (+1)

LIVERPOOL

Liverpool’s summer was hectic. The defending champion invested more than £450 million in seven players and twice broke the British transfer record, first with the arrival of Florian Wirtz and then with Alexander Isak on the last day of the market. The tragic death of Diogo Jota also affected the team’s performance at the beginning of the season. All this has complicated the task of Arne Slot as coach, who has had difficulty finding the ideal lineup. This is reflected in the rankings.

ABSENT: Trent Alexander-Arnold…

Premier League Most Valuable Players Analysis: 2025 Update In March 2025, we present the fifth edition of our ranking of the most valuable players (MVP) in the Premier League.
