Alcaraz Misses Davis Cup Due to Injury<\/h2>\n\nCarlos Alcaraz will not be able to compete in this year’s Davis Cup due to an injury. The world’s number one tennis player announced his withdrawal from the tournament to be held in Italy, after suffering a hamstring injury.\n\nAlcaraz, through his social media, expressed his regret for not being able to represent Spain in the competition. The player revealed that the doctors recommended him not to participate.\n\n\n

“I am very sorry to announce that I will not be able to play the Davis Cup in Bologna,” Alcaraz posted on X. “I have edema in my right hamstring and the medical recommendation is not to compete.”<\/p>\n\nCarlos Alcaraz<\/cite>\n<\/blockquote>\n\n\nThe injury occurred during last week’s ATP Finals, where he was diagnosed with muscle overload and inflammation in his right hamstring.\n\nAlcaraz, with a heavy heart, will return home.\n\nThe tennis player debuted in the Davis Cup in 2022 and has an overall record of 6-2, with 5-1 in singles. Spain last won the tournament in 2019.\n\nAlcaraz also missed the 2023 Davis Cup due to physical problems. Last year, Spain was eliminated in the first round of the Final 8 in Malaga, frustrating the last match of Rafael Nadal’s historic career.\n\nThe 22-year-old tennis player has expressed his desire to “win the Davis Cup someday… because for me it’s a very important tournament”.\n\nAlcaraz was going to lead Spain in Bologna on Thursday against the Czech Republic, seeded number 4, in the quarterfinals.
