The Tigres del Licey defeated the Gigantes del Cibao 3-2 this Tuesday at the Quisqueya Juan Marichal Stadium, thanks to a solid performance by pitcher C\u00e9sar Valdez and timely offensive support.<\/p>\n
Valdez (1-0) once again demonstrated his experience on the mound, adding his 28th victory with the blue jersey. This figure ties him with Juan Jim\u00e9nez, Arturo Pe\u00f1a and Mario Soto on the historical list of circuit wins. The right-hander did not concede any walks and struck out one batter during his presentation.<\/p>\n
The Tigers’ offense took the lead early in the game, with a solo home run by Cal Stevenson in the second inning against opposing starter Wily Peralta (0-1), who took the loss.<\/p>\n
Licey extended their lead in the seventh inning with RBI triples from Sergio Alc\u00e1ntara and Michael De La Cruz, driving in the two additional runs that made the difference in the game.<\/p>\n
