Montreal Canadiens forward Kirby Dach will be out of action for four to six weeks due to a foot fracture, the team announced on Sunday.<\/p>\n
This injury adds to the team’s concerns, which is seeking its first consecutive playoff qualification since the 2019-20 and 2020-21 seasons.<\/p>\n
On Friday, the Canadiens announced that defenseman Kaiden Guhle will be out for up to 10 weeks after undergoing surgery for a groin injury. In addition, forward Alex Newhook will miss the next four months due to surgery for a fractured ankle.<\/p>\n
These injuries occur weeks after the team announced that winger Patrik Laine would be out for three to four months following surgery on his core muscles.<\/p>\n
Dach, who has scored five goals and added seven points in 15 games, recorded a shot on goal and played 14:43 minutes in the game the Canadiens lost 3-2 against the Boston Bruins on Saturday.<\/p>\n
This new injury represents another setback for the 24-year-old player, who was the third selection in the 2019 draft. In the 2023-24 season, Dach was only able to participate in two games due to a torn anterior cruciate ligament and medial collateral ligament. A year earlier, he missed 25 games due to another knee injury.<\/p>\n
