In a night full of emotions, Alex Ovechkin, emblematic figure of the Washington Capitals, scored his 903rd goal in the NHL, contributing to his team’s 2-1 victory over the Los Angeles Kings this Monday.<\/p>\n
Ovechkin not only shone with his goal, but also surpassed Gordie Howe, setting a new record for regular season goals at a single NHL venue, with his number 442 goal at Capital One Arena.<\/p>\n
Matt Roy also made his presence felt on the scoreboard for the Capitals, who managed to break a two-game losing streak, boosting their position in the standings.<\/p>\n
On the Kings’ side, Anze Kopitar scored the team’s only goal, who saw their four-game winning streak interrupted, suffering their second regulation-time road loss this season.<\/p>\n
The game began with an early goal by the Capitals, courtesy of Roy, who deflected a shot by Aliaksei Protas. This was Roy’s first goal in 25 games, going back to the previous season.<\/p>\n
