Charlie McAvoy, Bruins defenseman, suffers injury after puck impact<\/h2>\n\nIn a shocking moment during the game between the Boston Bruins and the Montreal Canadiens, Bruins defenseman Charlie McAvoy took a hard hit to the mouth from a slap shot<\/em>.\n\nThe incident occurred midway through the second period of Saturday night’s game, forcing McAvoy to leave the game and not return.\n\nBruins coach Marco Sturm reported after his team’s 3-2 victory that McAvoy was “fine” and was undergoing medical tests.\n\n\n

“We will try to bring him home as soon as possible, hopefully tonight with us, but other than that, let’s hope he’s okay,” Sturm stated.<\/p>\n\nMarco Sturm, Bruins Coach<\/cite><\/blockquote>\n\n\nThe shot that hit McAvoy came from a one-timer<\/em> by Noah Dobson, which apparently deflected off Boston forward Mark Kastelic before hitting the defenseman.\n\nMcAvoy reacted immediately by covering his face and falling to the ice, while the team’s medical staff rushed to his aid.\n\nThe 27-year-old American player was quickly taken to the locker room after bleeding on the court.\n\nHis teammate, Nikita Zadorov, was seen trying to recover possible lost teeth.\n\n\n

“We pray that everything goes well,” expressed David Pastrnak, Bruins forward. “I haven’t received any news yet. I hope he’s okay. It’s a very tough time.”<\/p>\n\nDavid Pastrnak, Bruins Forward<\/cite><\/blockquote>\n\n\nCole Caufield, Canadiens forward, was near McAvoy at the time of the impact.\n\n\n
