Ernest Jones Defends Sam Darnold After Seahawks Loss<\/h2>\n\n\nAt SoFi Stadium, after the Seahawks’ defeat to the Rams, Seahawks’ middle linebacker Ernest Jones IV expressed his unconditional support for quarterback Sam Darnold, who performed below expectations.\n\n\n

“Sam has been playing incredibly. If we want to define Sam by this game, Sam has kept us in every damn game. So, for him to sit there and say, ‘It’s my fault,’ no, it’s not. It was plays that defensively we could have made… opportunities where we could have made better stops. It’s football, man. He’s our quarterback. We got his back, and if you have something to say, frankly, go fuck yourself”.<\/p>\n\nErnest Jones IV<\/cite>\n<\/blockquote>\n\n\nDarnold, in a season that has been brilliant for the team, had his worst performance, throwing four interceptions without touchdowns in the 21-19 loss against the Rams. The game was crucial, as both teams, with a 7-2 record, were vying for first place in the NFC West.\n\n\n

“I can’t turn the ball over as much as I did today,” Darnold said. “I’ll learn from it, watch the film, grow. You have to give credit to the Rams. Obviously, they’re a really good defense, a really good team. But I have to be better, personally.”<\/p>\n\nSam Darnold<\/cite>\n<\/blockquote>\n\n\nDespite the Seahawks’ 16 turnovers, including 10 by Darnold, the team showed resilience. Darnold, with the team on their own 1-yard line and a timeout, led a 56-yard drive to set up a 61-yard field goal attempt that, unfortunately, was not successful.\n\nSeattle’s defense held Stafford and the Rams to 249 yards and a low third-down conversion percentage, but offensive mistakes proved costly.\n\nDarnold, who led the NFL in Total QBR before the game, struggled, with three of his four interceptions occurring under pressure.\n\nSeahawks receiver Cooper Kupp praised Darnold’s perseverance. Coach Mike Macdonald highlighted Darnold’s ability to compete until the end.\n\nThe loss ended the Seahawks’ 10-game winning streak on the road. The team, now with a 7-3 record, will play against the Tennessee Titans next week.\n\n\n
