Minnesota Twins shortstop Carlos Correa has been reinstated from the seven-day injured list after clearing concussion protocol. The news comes ahead of a three-game series against Kansas City that begins Friday night.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Correa suffered a collision with center fielder Byron Buxton while both were pursuing a fly ball on May 15 in Baltimore. The incident forced both players to leave the game. Buxton was also placed on the seven-day injured list and underwent concussion protocol.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Twins’ head athletic trainer Nick Paparesta reported that Buxton is “a little behind” in his recovery compared to Correa, due to a previous concussion requiring greater caution. Buxton has already begun taking batting practice.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Correa, who was limited to 86 games last season due to plantar fasciitis in his right foot, has had a slow start to the current season. Before the collision with Buxton, he had not missed any playing time due to injury.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
In the 41 games prior to his injury, Correa, 30, recorded an OPS of .605, with eight doubles and two home runs.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
