Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic.<\/strong> Engineer On\u00e9simo Gonz\u00e1lez has been appointed to lead the transportation system for the XXV Central American and Caribbean Games, which will be held in Santo Domingo from July 24 to August 8, 2026.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Gonz\u00e1lez, who currently directs the National Student Transportation System (TRAE) and is a consultant in school mobility, will assume responsibility for designing the routes and planning the mobility of athletes, judges, and technical staff between the competition venues and the official accommodations.<\/p>\n\n\n\n In addition, it will be in charge of coordinating with the General Directorate of Traffic and Ground Transportation Safety (DIGESETT), the city councils, and the Ministry of Public Works and Communications. The objective is to ensure efficient and safe circulation during the sporting event.<\/p>\n\n\n\n With vast experience in the transportation sector, engineer Gonz\u00e1lez was director of the then Metropolitan Transportation Authority (AMET), now DIGESETT, and was responsible for the mobility system for the Santo Domingo 2003 Pan American Games.<\/p>\n\n\n\n The announcement was made after a working meeting between the president of the Organizing Committee of the Games, Jos\u00e9 P. Monegro, On\u00e9simo Gonz\u00e1lez and his team.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Previously, President Luis Abinader ordered the National Student Transportation System (TRAE) to make its buses available for the Games.
