“Alana has had a great impact on our club on and off the field in a short period of time, and our hearts break for her,” said Kansas City coach Vlatko Andonovski in a statement.<\/p>Vlatko Andonovski, Kansas City Current coach<\/cite><\/blockquote>\n\n Cook, with 30 international matches with the USWNT, was called up to the team last April after her consistent performance since she arrived at Kansas City last summer.<\/p>\n\n The player participated in one of the matches against Brazil, which marked her first international appearance since October 2023.<\/p>\n\n Cook left the field in the 62nd minute of Kansas City’s 1-0 victory over Orlando on May 16.<\/p>\n\n The victory gave Kansas City a four-point lead at the top of the NWSL table, but it came at a high cost.<\/p>\n\n Brazilian game creator Debinha and 2024 NWSL MVP and Golden Boot winner Temwa Chawinga also left the match due to injuries.<\/p>\n\n Debinha wrote on her Instagram account on Wednesday that the injury would keep her out “for a while”.<\/p>\n\n Andonovski told the media on Wednesday that Debinha will not return “until after the summer.”<\/p>\n\n The NWSL resumes after its summer break in August.<\/p>\n\n Chawinga was still being evaluated, Andonovski said on Wednesday.<\/p>\n\n The coach said after last week’s match that Chawinga’s injury is related to the one that has been bothering her all year.
