Former Tottenham Hotspur player Gareth Bale has joked about the possibility of the term “Spursy” \u2013 used to describe the club’s tendency to lose at the last moment \u2013 becoming “Unitedy” after the team’s victory in the Europa League final against Manchester United.<\/p>\n\n

The Spurs defeated United 1-0 in Bilbao on Wednesday, securing their first trophy in 17 years. The London club immediately celebrated on social media, posting an image of the celebrations with the caption “Spursy”.<\/p>\n\n

Bale, who played for Tottenham for six years before joining Real Madrid, reacted with a joke: “It could be a bit ‘Unitedy’ now, I tell you.”<\/p>\n\n

Although his comments were in a joking tone, Bale highlighted the relief of finally obtaining a title.<\/p>\n\n

Bale added that it is an incredible achievement for the club, which has waited a long time. Now, coach Ange Postecoglou goes down in history as a legendary coach, winning a European trophy.<\/p>\n\n

Spurs goalkeeper Guglielmo Vicario also expressed his hope that the victory will help the club move past the “Spursy” label.<\/p>\n\n
