The Philadelphia Phillies have placed right-handed pitcher Aaron Nola on the 15-day injured list due to a sprained right ankle.<\/p>\n\n
The decision dates back to Thursday.<\/p>\n\n
In his last start, Nola had a difficult performance, allowing nine runs on 12 hits and failing to complete the fourth inning in the 14-7 loss against the St. Louis Cardinals.<\/p>\n\n
On Friday, Phillies manager Rob Thomson reported that Nola injured his ankle during agility drills before the game against the Cardinals and tried to play despite the injury. Thomson indicated that Nola’s ankle is improving, but the team decided to sideline him and place him on the injured list. Thomson expects him to miss no more than 15 days.<\/p>\n\n
Nola has struggled throughout the season, with a 1-7 record and a 6.16 ERA.<\/p>\n\n
