Although there were flashes of that performance at the beginning of the season, there were also significant dips. &#8220;He has gotten to the fight faster than I expected,&#8221; he added.\n\nPiastri had a difficult weekend in Austin, suffering an accident in the sprint race and also colliding with Norris before finishing in fifth position in Sunday&#8217;s race.\n\n\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote is-layout-flow wp-block-quote-is-layout-flow\"><p>The gap has closed a little in the last races, but the focus has always been to go as fast as possible. I prefer to have the lead than to be anywhere else.
