A Florida judge has ruled in favor of UFC veteran Jorge Masvidal, awarding him a judgment for breach of contract of more than $5 million in his lawsuit against the online platform Fanmio.<\/p>\n
Judge Beatrice Butchko Sanchez approved Masvidal’s request, confirming the ruling of an arbitrator who awarded the former BMF champion $5,315,268.64, plus post-judgment interest.<\/p>\n
Masvidal sued Fanmio in January, alleging that his agreement for the boxing match against Nate Diaz included a $6 million purse, plus an additional million if he won the fight. Masvidal lost the fight by decision and claimed to have received only a $150,000 advance and a $1 million payment.<\/p>\n
The referee ruled in favor of Masvidal, and with the final approval, this matter has been resolved.<\/p>\n
However, Fanmio still faces lawsuits from other fighters.<\/p>\n
Nate Diaz filed a lawsuit against Fanmio two weeks after Masvidal’s, claiming more than $9 million. An arbitrator awarded Diaz $6 million, plus attorney’s fees. That case is still awaiting final approval.<\/p>\n
