UFC veteran Jorge Masvidal has secured a significant legal victory. A Florida judge ruled in his favor, awarding him a judgment for breach of contract amounting to over $5 million.<\/p>\n
Masvidal’s lawsuit was filed against the online platform Fanmio, which promoted his 2024 boxing match against Nate Diaz.<\/p>\n
Judge Beatrice Butchko Sanchez approved Masvidal’s request, confirming the arbitrator’s ruling that awarded him $5,315,268.64, plus post-judgment interest.<\/p>\n
Masvidal initiated the lawsuit in January, alleging that his agreement for the fight with Diaz included a purse of 6 million dollars, plus an additional million if he won. Masvidal lost the fight by decision and claimed to have received only an advance of 150,000 dollars and a payment of one million.<\/p>\n
The referee backed Masvidal, ending this case with final approval. However, Fanmio still faces litigation with other fighters.<\/p>\n
Nate Diaz also sued Fanmio, two weeks after Masvidal’s lawsuit, claiming over $9 million. An arbitrator awarded Diaz $6 million, plus attorney’s fees. This case is still awaiting final approval.<\/p>\n
