The Golden Knights’ starting goalie, Adin Hill, was forced to leave Monday’s game against Carolina due to an apparent leg injury. The situation occurred midway through the first period, with Vegas leading the score 1-0.
\nAfter making a save, Hill fell to the ice and remained there for several minutes, showing clear signs of pain.
\nAfter a brief conversation with the team’s athletic trainer, Kyle Moore, teammates Zach Whitecloud and William Karlsson helped Hill get to the bench. Hill had difficulty walking towards the tunnel, showing problems supporting his left leg.
\nHill had already left a game in Calgary on October 14, missing the next game against Boston.
\nLast Saturday, Hill achieved his first victory of the season, stopping 26 shots in the 6-1 victory over Calgary.
\nIn replacement of Hill, Akira Schmid entered, who until that moment had a record of 3-0 with an average of 3.00 goals against and a save percentage of .879.
\nThe Golden Knights will begin a three-game road trip on Saturday against Florida. If Hill is unable to travel, the team could call up Carl Lindbom from their AHL club, the Silver Knights.
\nThe Golden Knights were already dealing with other injuries, after placing captain Mark Stone on injured reserve just before the game, and the absence of forwards Brett Howden and defenseman Noah Hanifin.
\nVegas recently signed Carter Hart to a professional tryout contract, becoming the first of the five Canadian World Junior hockey players from 2018 to obtain an NHL contract since they were acquitted of sexual assault in a high-profile case.
