UFC veteran Jorge Masvidal has secured a significant legal victory. A Florida judge awarded Masvidal a default judgment for over $5 million in his lawsuit against the online platform Fanmio.<\/p>\n
The company Fanmio was the promoter of the boxing match between Masvidal and Nate Diaz in 2024.<\/p>\n
Judge Beatrice Butchko Sanchez approved Masvidal’s request, after an arbitrator awarded the former BMF champion $5,315,268.64, plus post-judgment interest, related to the fight.<\/p>\n
Masvidal filed the lawsuit against Fanmio in January. In it, he alleged that his agreement for the fight with Diaz included a $6 million purse, plus an additional $1 million if he won the fight. Masvidal lost the fight by decision and claimed to have received only a $150,000 advance and a $1 million payment.<\/p>\n
The referee ruled in favor of Masvidal, and with final approval, the matter has been resolved.<\/p>\n
However, Fanmio still faces lawsuits from other fighters.<\/p>\n
Nate Diaz filed a lawsuit against Fanmio two weeks after Masvidal’s, alleging that he was owed more than $9 million. An arbitrator awarded Diaz $6 million, along with attorney’s fees. That case is still awaiting final approval.<\/p>\n
In March, Fanmio filed a lawsuit against Golden Boy Promotions and Ryan Garcia for a canceled exhibition match with Rukiya Anpo, scheduled for December 31, 2024. Garcia chose to fight Rolando Romero in May.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
