However, a recent report suggested that Elkann had been considering former Red Bull boss Christian Horner to replace him next year.\n\nHorner could return to F1 in the spring of 2026, after reaching an agreement with his former team.\n\nThe news emerged at a time when Ferrari is close to finishing a season without victories in major races.\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/a1.espncdn.com\/combiner\/i?img=%2Fphoto%2F2025%2F0625%2Fr1511056_1296x729_16%2D9.jpg\" alt=\"\" title=\"\"><\/figure>\n\n\nFerrari President John Elkann and Team Principal Fred Vasseur.\n\nStar driver Lewis Hamilton called the news about Horner &#8220;distracting&#8221; and, when asked if it would be a good idea for Ferrari to sign the Englishman, simply replied: &#8220;No, and I&#8217;m not going to fuel those rumors.&#8221;\n\nThe team has emphasized, in the run-up to this weekend&#8217;s United States Grand Prix, that there is no basis to the report.\n\nSpeaking at the National Italian American Foundation (NIAF) in Washington D.C. on Saturday, Elkann tried to distance himself further from Horner.\n\n\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote is-layout-flow wp-block-quote-is-layout-flow\"><p>I want to express our full confidence in our team principal, Fred Vasseur, and in the work he is carrying out together with all our colleagues at Scuderia Ferrari: the mechanics, engineers and drivers competing this weekend in Austin.<\/p><cite>John Elkann<\/cite><\/blockquote>\n\n\nElkann added: &#8220;I also want to reaffirm the importance of teamwork by everyone to keep us focused on the only goal that matters: always give our best on the track.&#8221;\n\nFerrari hasn&#8217;t won an F1 championship of any kind since the constructors&#8217; in 2008.
