The incident, which forced both drivers to abandon the competition, opened the doors for Max Verstappen to close the gap.\n\nThe collision occurred at Turn 1, when Piastri’s car was touched by Nico H\u00fclkenberg’s Sauber, while trying to overtake Norris. The resulting impact launched Piastri’s car into his teammate’s.\n\nNorris was forced to retire immediately, while Piastri also had to abandon, with a radio message suggesting suspension damage due to the crash.\n\n\n

I had no idea what happened.<\/p>\n\nLando Norris<\/cite><\/blockquote>\n\n\nNorris, when asked by reporters, stated that “he had no idea” what happened. “What else was I going to do? I need to see it a little more. They just hit me, took me out, so I couldn’t do much.”\n\n\n
