However, a report this week suggested that Elkann has been looking at former Red Bull boss Christian Horner to replace him next year.\n\nHorner could return to F1 in the spring of 2026, after reaching an agreement with his former team, which is estimated at 100 million dollars.\n\nThe report comes at a time when Ferrari is nearing the end of a disappointing campaign, having failed to achieve a single victory in a Grand Prix.\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/a1.espncdn.com\/combiner\/i?img=%2Fphoto%2F2025%2F0625%2Fr1511056_1296x729_16%2D9.jpg\" alt=\"\" title=\"\"><figcaption>El presidente de Ferrari, John Elkann, y el director del equipo, Fred Vasseur.<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n\nStar driver Lewis Hamilton declared on Thursday that the news about Horner was &#8220;distracting.&#8221; When asked if a move to Ferrari for the Briton would be a good idea, he replied: &#8220;No, and I&#8217;m not going to fuel those rumors.&#8221;\n\nThe team has emphasized, in the preview to this weekend&#8217;s United States Grand Prix, that there is no basis to the report.\n\nSpeaking at the National Italian American Foundation (NIAF) in Washington D.C. on Saturday, Elkann tried to distance himself further from Horner.\n\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote is-layout-flow wp-block-quote-is-layout-flow\"><p>I want to express our full confidence in our team principal, Fred Vasseur, and in the work he is doing together with all our colleagues at Scuderia Ferrari: the mechanics, engineers and drivers competing this weekend in Austin.<\/p><cite>John Elkann<\/cite><\/blockquote>\n\nElkann added: &#8220;I also want to reaffirm the importance of teamwork by everyone to maintain focus on the only goal that matters: always give our best on the track.&#8221;\n\nFerrari hasn&#8217;t won an F1 championship of any kind since the constructors&#8217; in 2008.
