The energy is fantastic. But, as I said, I always want to showcase my talent, definitely.”

George Pickens

Pickens has had a significant impact on the team, accumulating 32 receptions for 525 yards and scoring six touchdowns in the last five games. If he manages to score another touchdown on Sunday against the Washington Commanders, he would become the first Cowboys receiver to achieve a touchdown in six consecutive games since Terrell Owens in 2007.

Along with Amari Cooper, Pickens is one of the only Cowboys receivers to record at least 500 receiving yards and six touchdowns in his first six games with the team.

When asked about the contract situation, Pickens responded that he is not completely focused on that, preferring to concentrate on the season and the playoffs.

The Cowboys’ star receiver, CeeDee Lamb, who currently earns $34 million a year, is expected to return to the field this Sunday against the Commanders after missing several games due to a sprained ankle.

Coach Brian Schottenheimer expressed his confidence in Lamb’s return and highlighted the positive impact his presence will have along with Pickens’ productivity on the team’s offense, which is currently number 1 in yards and number 3 in points in the league.

Pickens, when talking about the offense, mentioned that with players like CeeDee Lamb and KaVontae Turpin, the team becomes more dangerous and explosive.

Given that Pickens will turn 25 in March, he is expected to be one of the most sought-after receivers in free agency if he becomes available. The Cowboys could also consider using the franchise tag on him.

The owner and general manager, Jerry Jones, did not want to comment on the possibility of starting contract talks with Pickens, but expressed his satisfaction with the player’s performance since his arrival on the team.

“In every aspect, he is doing more than we expected,” Jones said. “And what is really special is that he is a great asset to the team. He is a great asset to his teammates. He is a great asset to the coaches, and the coaches really think very highly of him.
