Tiger Woods Undergoes Seventh Back Surgery<\/h2>\n\nGolfer Tiger Woods underwent his seventh back surgery on Friday, this time to replace a disc in his lower back that was causing him pain and mobility issues.\n\nWoods announced the news in a social media post on Saturday, indicating that the surgery was performed in New York and that he considered it the right decision for his health and his problematic back.\n\nIt was not specified how long he will be away from golf, although there is uncertainty about his possible participation in the Hero World Challenge in the Bahamas or in the PNC Championship alongside his son, Charlie, both tournaments scheduled for December.\n\nThe last time Woods competed was at the PNC Championship last year, where he lost in a playoff.\n\nThis is Woods’ second surgery this year, following a procedure in March due to a rupture in his left Achilles tendon, and the second back surgery in the last 13 months.\n\nWoods explained that he consulted doctors and surgeons after experiencing pain and lack of mobility in his back.\n\n\n

I opted to replace my disc yesterday, and I already know I made a good decision for my health and my back,” Woods wrote in Saturday’s post.<\/p>\n\nTiger Woods<\/cite>\n<\/blockquote>\n\n\nThe first of Woods’ seven back surgeries was in April 2014, which eventually led to a fusion in his lower back in 2017. A year later, he won the Tour Championship and then achieved his 15th major and his fifth green jacket at the 2019 Masters.\n\nIn February 2021, Woods suffered a car accident that fractured his right leg and ankle, which, according to him, almost resulted in amputation.\n\nWoods returned to competition a year later, at the 2022 Masters.\n\nSince the accident, Woods has participated in only 15 tournaments in the last four years, four of them in the PNC Championship, where he can use a cart during the 36-hole event.","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
