Nick Mangold, Former Jets Player, Needs a Kidney Transplant<\/h2>\n\nFormer New York Jets center Nick Mangold has made public his need for a kidney transplant due to chronic kidney disease diagnosed in 2006.\n\nMangold, 41 years old and a member of the Jets’ Ring of Honor, shared his situation through social media and an official team statement.\n\n\n

\u201cThis is not an easy message to share, but I want to be open about what’s happening with my health,\u201d Mangold stated.<\/p>\n\nNick Mangold<\/cite><\/blockquote>\n\n\nMangold revealed that he has gone through a “difficult summer” and is currently on dialysis.\n\n\n

\u201cI always knew this day would come, but I thought I would have more time,\u201d he commented.<\/p>\n\nNick Mangold<\/cite><\/blockquote>\n\n\nThe former player also reported that he has no family members available to donate at this time, so he requested the support of the Jets community.\n\n“I need a kidney donor with blood type O,” she added.\n\n\n
