With an outstanding final round of 7 under par (64 strokes), the American golfer won the championship in a country with deep family roots.

Schauffele demonstrated his prowess at the Yokohama Country Club, completing the four rounds with an impressive total of 19 under par (265 strokes). He surpassed his compatriot Max Greyserman by one stroke, who also stood out as the runner-up in the previous year’s event.

Schauffele’s connection to Japan is deep. His mother, born in Taiwan, grew up in Japan, and his maternal grandparents reside there. In addition, his wife is half Japanese and grew up in Okinawa, and his mother-in-law is also Japanese, creating very strong family ties in the region.

La madre de Xander Schauffele nació en Taiwán pero creció en Japón.

I’ve been coming here since I was about 9 years old to visit my grandparents.
